Task 2: Understanding (Group Work)
In this task, you will explore previous recipients of the 'Australian of the Year Award'.
You are looking for what sort of achievement, or contribution these people have made to Australia's history, society and culture. To get started, let's go back to the very beginning. The first Australian of the Year was awarded to Sir Frank Macfarlane Burnet in 1960. Click below hear a few words from him. |
You have now been briefly introduced to the first Australian of the Year. However, you will need to complete greater and deeper research in order to make an informed decision when putting forth your selection to the board of directors.
You will need to gather facts from an award winner from each decade. You are free to choose which person in each decade your wish to research.
For this task, the board of directors will need to see you working collaboratively in groups. They expect to see everyone sharing the work and resources and working together to write their answers. Please take the opportunity to discuss your thoughts about each new piece of information you uncover.
